'High' on 'Life' - a Ballad of its Ballet

Image
As we look around waiting for miracles to happen to solve our daily problems, somewhere we miss out the greatest miracle that is happening to us this very moment - "life" itself. This poem depicts the story  of this miracle as a Dance of Life.  A dance which begins as a small cell, bursting forth into a "life" form and a piece of "life" itself which is what each of us is - a real miracle. Life's dance is but a dance of the elements (earth, water, fire and wind). After all isnt it life which really makes "earth" - makes "earth" so unique in the known universe. It is life which, similar to "wind" and "water" creates and sustains more life (every life is dependent on another piece of life for its own creation and sustenance). Life, as "fire" kindles dreams and emotions. After all isnt life all about the ability to experience every emotion and also have the freedom to express and emote in our own unique for...

....can you see MY Dragons..?

Image
Here is my most recent piece of work that I would like to share. A poetic take on a very simple, subtle and beautiful reality of life. "How can I share my secrets with you if you can't even 'see' my realities and my world, leave alone understanding them?" Winning someone’s heart, earning someone’s trust and creating a “safe space” for someone to share their world begins with the ability, patience and openness to view the world from their perspective and accepting their realities without doubt, judgement or mockery. Isn’t this true with any relationship in life? Doesn't the acceptance of this reality make bonds stronger and the world a lovelier place?? The poem depicts a simple conversation between a parent and a child to portray this very beautiful reality – starting from the mythical wall between them, where the child resists sharing, to the point where the parent  closes his own “eyes”, opens his own mind, and views the world from his child’s “eye” sparkin...

....your Back to the Wall

Image
....Your Back to the Wall My next piece of work with an entirely different chain of thoughts. A slightly different concept and attempt. Posting this with after a lot of initial hesitation. Would love thoughts and feedback. ANYONE SHARING THIS ..SMALL REQUEST TO PLEASE TAG ME ON THE SHARE. Would love to hear reactions and perspectives. Now for the dissection of the thought.  At the outset - READ IT TWICE (to experience 2 perspectives) Is the poem intended to portray a dark truth? Maybe, and there seems to be an attempt to. A dark truth that we as a society are very well aware of, empathize with and feel strongly about but choose to subtly turn away from and live with - whether we are the "victim" herself or a mere onlooker. Issue is this form of harassment is not physical or verbal that can be addressed, but it lurks everywhere. And many a time nothing gets done because its an evil that does not physically harm anyone but causes deep mental and emotional trauma - that uneasy, ...

THE TRIAL

Image
The Trial Here is my next piece of work – another poem that I just wrote – “The Trial” We all play various roles in our lives and we learn with time and experience how to smoothly fit into these roles. However there is one role which we seem to magically self-appoint ourselves with – the role of a “Judge”…yes you heard it right “a Judge”. Don’t we so naturally and so flamboyantly “judge” others. I mean no one taught us that skill. We are amazing naturals  😃 😃 . We are just so br illiant at being “judgemental” that we bring our “all knowing” attitude to drag people into the “courtrooms” within “our own heads” and put them on “trial” before passing our “verdict” around their “flaws, shortcomings and attitudes”. The hilarious part is that we are so confident about it that it does not matter that we do not even know the details or the context of the other’s life many a time. And yet, we make a “convict” of family, friends, colleagues, others that we may a relationship with and even t...

TWILIGHT - The "Dawn" at "Dusk"

Image
TWILIGHT – THE DAWN ‘AT’ DUSK!! A poem that I got inspired to write. A poem is best interpreted in the minds of readers. While I leave you to it, just wanted to share my thought, that lies beneath the surface of the words. During one of these many days of lock down, I happened to enjoy a lovely view of sunset from our home balcony. It was so beautiful and, the spectacle was so surreal that I got inspired to pen this poem down. At the outset, the poem describes a moment in the  life of “Time” - the "twilight moment during dusk". It almost seems like at that point, time stands still and motionless and refuses to move on. It wants to cling on to the day and daylight and refuses to give way to the “night”, leaving behind a chaotic play of light and colour on the canvas of the sky. It is almost as if time does not want to let go as described by Time itself. The poem also describes a more sublime truth if you go a little deeper. Here “Twilight at Dusk” can be thought of as a “state...

Fall of Glory - Livin' A Dream

Image
Fall of Glory – Livin’ a Dream –  A little tale within a tale from Shanti and myself. A Tale of a Dream unfolding into reality….would love it if you can read through…. Something I wanted to share for a long time. This is a little poem I wrote for my 8 year old son couple years back for a school recitation. It tells the story of a little stream which is born out the first droplets of rain in the woods. The stream nurses a dream – to become a mighty waterfall. But no one notices the stream, leave alone caring for her dream. In fact the stream faces so many obstacles with the rocks, twigs and trees blocking her. But she keeps flowing and gathers steam and over time lives her dream. She finally does “let go” and plunges down the cliff as a mighty waterfall. A “free fall” is the best way to represent letting go and when you do let go and follow your heart, the world is forced to turn around and admire you coz there is no more inspiring a sight than beholding one who has let go and livin...
