....can you see MY Dragons..?
Here is my most recent piece of work that I would like
to share. A poetic take on a very simple, subtle and beautiful reality of life.
"How can I share my secrets with you if you can't even 'see' my realities and my world, leave alone understanding them?"
Winning
someone’s heart, earning someone’s trust and creating a “safe space” for
someone to share their world begins with the ability, patience and openness to view the
world from their perspective and accepting their realities without doubt, judgement or
mockery.
Isn’t this true with any relationship in life? Doesn't the acceptance of this reality make bonds stronger and the world a lovelier place??
The poem depicts a simple conversation between a parent and a child to portray this very beautiful reality – starting from the mythical wall between them, where the child resists sharing, to the point where the parent closes his own “eyes”, opens his own mind, and views the world from his child’s “eye” sparking off the magical connect and undying bond between them.
Some of the best life lessons are taught to us, or rather reminded to us, just by observing little children and their simple needs. After all isn't each one of us that "little child" that has just grown up? Just that around that "little child" in us, we have created tons of complications of a truly simple life.
Interestingly enough, social media has always prided itself as being the
solution to any human problem J. Even recently, after news around what
depression can do, the nation has been vocal on social media about each one
being “available” to others, each one being that “shoulder to cry on”, each one
being that “special ear that listens” and each one being that “psychological
solution” to evils such as depression and harsh decisions. But truly being “available” is all about having the “open mind, patience
and the ability to accept and view the world from another’s perspective”
without “doubt, judgement or mockery”. Only then is the “safe space” for open
sharing created. Until this happens true sharing can never happen. Coz real
sharing from one’s heart can only happen when the individual believes that he
is sharing with someone who is able to see and understand his world and will
listen unconditionally.
Hope you enjoy this simple read. Do share your comments and views.
