TWILIGHT - The "Dawn" at "Dusk"

TWILIGHT – THE DAWN ‘AT’ DUSK!!

A poem that I got inspired to write. A poem is best interpreted in the minds of readers. While I leave you to it, just wanted to share my thought, that lies beneath the surface of the words.

During one of these many days of lock down, I happened to enjoy a lovely view of sunset from our home balcony. It was so beautiful and, the spectacle was so surreal that I got inspired to pen this poem down. At the outset, the poem describes a moment in the life of “Time” - the "twilight moment during dusk". It almost seems like at that point, time stands still and motionless and refuses to move on. It wants to cling on to the day and daylight and refuses to give way to the “night”, leaving behind a chaotic play of light and colour on the canvas of the sky. It is almost as if time does not want to let go as described by Time itself.
The poem also describes a more sublime truth if you go a little deeper. Here “Twilight at Dusk” can be thought of as a “state of mind” which all of us experience many a time in life. We become prisoners of our own “past” and refuse to embrace the future. And it is never that the past clings on to us. It is us who cling on to our past and refuse to let go. Be it revelling in past glory or being bogged down by past misery, at every moment our past colours our lives, our decisions and our behaviour. Though our inner voice tells us to let go and move on, we latch on and refuse to let go. This happens because our past is known to us, we are familiar with it and it is filled with certainty. But the future is highly uncertain and unknown to us and fills us with doubt and fear. In this chaotic state of mind, we even forget to live the present moment to the fullest. This discomfort and fear destroys our present life, since at every crossroad we experience it, be it fear of change within this life or even the fear of letting go of life itself and embrace the afterlife. This fear prevents us from experiencing true happiness during the present moment.
This poem goes on to describe this very “twilight state of mind” at each dusk, where
the “day gone by” is our “past” (that we are possessive about)
and “the night ahead” is our “future” (filled with darkness and the unknown).
The “little bird” in the poem is the “little voice of our mind”.
The reference to “star/s” describes “hope” or in some places “destiny”.
Hope you enjoy reading this. Feel free to create your own interpretations too. Share those thoughts too
