Fall of Glory - Livin' A Dream

Fall of Glory – Livin’ a Dream –

A little tale within a tale from Shanti and myself. A Tale of a Dream unfolding into reality….would love it if you can read through….
Something I wanted to share for a long time. This is a little poem I wrote for my 8 year old son couple years back for a school recitation. It tells the story of a little stream which is born out the first droplets of rain in the woods.

The stream nurses a dream – to become a mighty waterfall. But no one notices the stream, leave alone caring for her dream. In fact the stream faces so many obstacles with the rocks, twigs and trees blocking her. But she keeps flowing and gathers steam and over time lives her dream. She finally does “let go” and plunges down the cliff as a mighty waterfall. A “free fall” is the best way to represent letting go and when you do let go and follow your heart, the world is forced to turn around and admire you coz there is no more inspiring a sight than beholding one who has let go and living one’s dream with unbound joy.
Now that was the poem. But the tale does not end here. Much like the stream in the poem, the poem herself had a dream. She did not want to be just a humble little poem. She had the dream of making it to a big stage and passing a message to the world. And so she began her journey.
Shanti and myself scripted the poem into a story – a story for a ballet. We attempted it with a self-created “split stage” concept. While the story of the stream was enacted on the left of the stage, for every scene, the equivalent story of a little girl is enacted on the right of the stage. And so, similar to the stream, a little baby girl is born into a family amidst a lot of cheer. As she grows she nurtures the dream of becoming a dancer. But the world ridicules her dream and pushes her into the regular humdrum of a mundane life much like the rocks in the stream story. She gets depressed and down, but keeps at it until finally she decides to stop worrying about the world. She decides to just “let go” and “dance just for herself” – forgetting the world, forgetting herself, just experiencing the ecstasy of living her own dream. The sight of her “dance in a trance” is so awe inspiring that the same world that ridiculed her, now turns around in wonder and joins her. This is then compared to the ONE and ONLY DANCE IN THE UNIVERSE THAT IS PERFORMED IN EXTREME TRANCE – YES, THE DANCE OF LORD SHIVA HIMSELF which is so awe inspiring that the entire universe dances (thrives) along.
And thus the humble little poem lived her dream of passing a beautiful message, “to live one’s dream” in front of a large audience from atop a stage as THE FALL OF GLORY – LIVING A DREAM was enacted by the lovely little kids of Srjathi Academy from the Gopalan Grandeur apartment.
